A Little Background

Hey, it's me!

My name is Nancy, I'm the sole creator behind Sad Radish Pottery. Yes, this is a one woman show and I'm incredibly grateful to be able to pursue the things I love.

The big question ...

Why Sad Radish?

My favorite part of having vegetable gardens growing up was pulling up the root veggies. It's like a little surprise, you never know what you're going to get. I remember pulling up things that were never ready, even when my dad said not to!

Any root veggies that looked a little different, had blemishes or worm holes I thought they were just a little sad... Sad Radish came to mind while reminiscing those happy silly childhood memories.

Nancy grew up in Westport, New York surrounded by forests, ponds, and farm life. Nancy has always been attracted to nature and you could find her sitting in the gardens drawing and painting most days in her youth.

In 2011 she attended SUNY Plattsburgh to pursue her arts education. It was only natural that introduction to clay would be where her heart would go. Being able to express colors, textures, and ideas seemed so natural in this medium and it quickly became her passion.

In 2015 she graduated with her BFA in Ceramics and Printmaking. After graduating she joined a local Community Clay Studio at The Strand Center for the Arts in Plattsburgh, NY, and began teaching adult and youth classes and managing the studio.

Since graduation, Nancy has participated in many local galleries, shows, shops, and events throughout Essex and Clinton County. She also has partnered with local businesses creating branded pottery for their clients and customers.

In late 2022 she left her job at The Strand and began making pottery full-time.

2024 was a pivotal year for Sad Radish Pottery! Welcome to The Studio Store. Nancy moved into the Latitude 44 Plaza in Plattsburgh (5131 US Ave.). You can see her working in her private studio and browse her ceramic creations and other small business gifts and goods. Keep an eye out for classes as they pop up too!
